twitter addiction, linkspam, etc.
My recent addiction to Twitter robbed me of precious hours of sleep. But thanks to this (relatively) new micro-blogging/social networking medium, I'm reading and learning a lot of new and interesting things.
For those of you who aren't familiar with twitter, watch a super short and simple video here. In twitter, what you do is you "follow" (or add to your parang friends list) other twitter users who you think are interesting or worth following; they may be real life friends (hi toj!), celebrities (ie ashton kutcher), politicians (ie obama), bloggers, news (cnn), fashion magazines, etc. The 140-character "updates" of all the twitterers you follow can be seen in your homepage (similar to the news feed in FB). You also post your own updates from your homepage. Now if you follow a lot of people (I currently follow 145--but the number's still growing), it would be better if you use a 3rd-party Twitter client, which are applications that you download for free and install on your computer (I'm using Twitterdeck). There are many apps and clients that can help you maximize your twitter experience.
The reason why I'm raving about twitter is because it helped me communicate with people form different parts of the globe and discover interesting websites--some are related to my field of study/work (food), music, celebrities, news and current events, etc. I searched for twitter users who are also into these things, I looked at their pages to see if they seemed interesting or credible enough, and I added them to the people I follow. Now, when you follow a certain twitter user, you can see on his/her twitter page a brief bio and link to the user's website. So I checked out the websites of the people I follow, and now my bookmarks list has grown. Hehe. It's so amazing how easy it is to access the information you want with the kind of technology, media, and social networking we now have. I'm "feeling really 21st century", ika nga ni Oprah sa twitter page nya. Haha.
Kani-kanina lang, nagttwitter si ashton kutcher from the white house correspondents dinner ("I'm trying to figure out why anyone would let me sit this close to the president"). Haha wala lang. Anyway, for those of you who are too tamad to check out twitter (but seriously, do try it out) but have the time to check out links to interesting websites, here's a list of sites that I recommend. I'm interested kasi in food and design (pwedeng design in terms of product, package, art, interior, graphics, architecture, etc) so halos puro about dito ung mga links ko.
